The
Telinc TL1016 Equipment Nest packs 16 CSU/DSUs in only 4.375"
(2.5U) of rack space, 256 in a standard 70" cabinet. It accommodates
any combination of Telinc T-l, E-1 and DDS CSU/DSUs, each
con- trolled with SNMP, a VT100 terminal or DIP switches.
The nest mounts in 19" or 23" racks and is available with
single or dual, load-sharing 115 VAC, 220 VAC and 48 VDC power
supplies. The CSU/DSUs are also available in standalone form.
SNMP,
VT100 and DIP Switch Control
Telinc
CSU/DSUs can be controlled with a local or remote VT100 terminal
or individually with switches on each CSU/DSU. SNMP control,
with an Ethernet interface, is available as an option. The
embedded SNMP agent is MIB II-compliant and supports SNMP
gets, sets and traps. With SNMP, the TL1016 presents a single
IP address for all sixteen CSUs in the nest.
Optional
Redundant Power Supplies and Controllers
The
equipment nest power supply and controller are packaged together
on a single plug-in module. A second module can he added for
maximum reliability. The dual supplies operate in a load-sharing
mode with either capable of assuming the full load. |
The
redundancy can be implemented with two AC supplies, two DC
supplies or one of each. The common controllers are used only
for communication with the remote manager. Failure of one
or both of them will not affect operation of the CSU/DSUs.
Midplane
Construction
The
TL1016 equipment nest employs a midplane design. There are
eighteen slots in the front of the nest and eighteen more
in the rear. Two of the front and rear slots are used for
the power and controller modules. The other sixteen slots
are for CSU/DSUs. The products are made up of two-board sets,
a CSU/DSU board and an interface board. The CSU/DSU board
plugs into the front of the nest and contains the T-l, E-1
or DDS CSU/DSU. The interface board plugs into the rear and
contains the interface circuitry and connectors for T-l, E-l,
DDS, RS232, RS422, RS530, V.35, etc.
The
Telinc midplane approach provides flexibility for change.
New interfaces can be added to existing products. New products
can use existing interface connections. Products can be inserted
and removed without disturbing interface cabling. |
